Tank Cure Epoxy Tank Sealer / Tank Coating
Tank Cure is an epoxy based inner coating / sealant for steel gas tanks. Great to fix rusted gas tanks, even with small leakages at the bottom as well as coating brand new tanks. It gives a tough coating that will last for years and is also resistant to fuel containing up to 10% Ethanol.
For a complete kit for non coated steel tanks, select the following components:
- Epoxy Coating (available in 450g or 650g)
- Steel Tank Cleaner
- Rust Remover

How to use Tank Cure Sealant in 3 steps
-
1. Tank Cure Tank Cleaner
The inside of the petrol tank should first be cleaned well with Tank Cure Cleaner. Pour the cleaner in the tank and shake the tank regularly over the span of 1-3 hours, if your tank is very dirty let the Tank Cure Cleaner work overnight. Rinse the tank well with water afterwards and let it dry fully.
-
2. Tank Cure Rust Remover
Always use Tank Cure Rust Remover, even when there is no rust. This not only removes rust, but also etches the surface ensuring good adhesion for the sealer. The Rust Remover works best in temperatures above 25˚C.
If your tank has a lot of rust we recommend adding screws or nuts in your tank with the Rust Remover, this allows rust to be properly loosened and removed.
Pour Rust Remover in your tank and shake regulary after adding the rust remover. Do not leave the Tank Cure Rust Remover in the tank for too long. Inspect the tank regularly to ensure that all rust has been removed, when the rust is gone pour out the Rust Remover. Directly afterwards rinse the tank well with water and dry the petrol tank thoroughly to prevent new rust formation. A heat gun or hair dryer is a useful tool to fully dry the tank.

3. Tank Cure Sealant
Preparation:
First make sure that the tank is completely dry, no moisture can be present in the tank.
Remove tap(s) and close all openings except for the filler cap, but make sure that you have a substitute for the filler cap available to shut this opening at a later stage. Threaded holes can be shut with a bolt , this guarantees that the inside thread of the tap will not be covered by the sealant. It is recommended to wrap the outside of the tank with a plastic foil or a bag to avoid spilling on the tank. Just leave an opening at the filler cap that can be taped. Before applying the sealant, the tank should be completely dry internally.
Applying:
Make sure that the coating and the tank in which it is applied, have a temperature of at least 20˚C, so the coating can spread properly. Sometimes it may be advisable to gently heat the tank with a hairdryer to allow better flow.
Mix the two parts of Tank Cure Epoxy Coating, pour it in the tank and close the filling opening. Slowly rotate the tank in all directions so the coating spreads evenly on the entire interior. Do this for 10 to 20 minutes, until the inside is completely covered, then drain the remaining liquid through the filling opening.
Now remove the seals from the fuel tap opening and check the threaded holes, clean these with acetone or thinner if necessary. Remove the plastic foil/bag and check that there are no splashes on the outside of the tank, if there is they should be cleaned up immediately. Leave the tank open after treatment. The tank can be used again after 7 days of curing at 20˚C (room temperature)

Practical tips
-
For aluminum tanks use Tank Cure Aluminum Tank Cleaner, then Tank Cure Aluminum Tank Primer and finally apply Tank Cure Epoxy Coating.
Tank Cure Aluminium Tank Primer mixes 100 parts primer and 15 parts hardener. Ready for Tank Cure Epoxy after 16h in 20C. In other regards used on the same premises as the Epoxy Coating. Optional thinner available. -
Tanks that need a new internal coating because the old one has come to the end of its life span must be cleaned with Epoxy Remover first.
-
Read the Tank Cure instructions carefully and make sure you understand them completely before use. You are using chemicals which are harmful when used incorrect. If you have any questions about the usage of Tank Cure, please contact our support.
- It takes 7 days after treatment before you can use the tank as the Tank Cure Epoxy Coating has to harden completely. Using the tank before letting it harden completely will result in coating failure.

Tank Cure Epoxy Tank Sealer / Coating
